The Branchburg Board of Health is dedicated towards the preservation and improvement of the health of its residents, both individually and as a whole, and their environment.  The Health Department meets this challenge by identifying problems, solving them through education or action, and adapting to a changing community and its needs.

 

Health Department Activities

·        Communicable disease & illness outbreak investigations

·        Childhood immunizations and well child care services. Polio, measles, mumps, rubella, diptheria, pertussis, tetanus, haemophilus, influenza B, hepatitis B, varicella

·        Older adult immunizations and health counseling services

·        Community nursing services

·        Health promotion & education services. Poison and injury prevention, alcohol and drug abuse, tobacco use and prevention, nutrition, AIDS, disease prevention. 

·        Services extended to members of general public, community groups, schools, public events and work sites.  Adult Health Screening is held every two years.

·        Audits of school immunization records

·        Animal bite investigations and community rabies control activities

·        Rabies immunization clinics for dogs and cats (spring & fall)

·        Environmental lead investigation/remediation oversight

·        Inspections of restaurants, cafeterias and food markets

·        Inspections of pet shops, animal shelters and kennels

·        Septic system construction regulatory responsibility

·        Individual well construction regulatory responsibility

·        Inspections of public pools

·        Inspections of campgrounds & youth camps

·        Community noise enforcement

·        Bioterrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction planning and response

·        Blood borne pathogen training in workplaces affected by regulations

·        NJ worker and community right to know compliance activities

·        Enforcement of Public Health Nuisance and Environmental Protection codes

**Child Health Conferences**
Free immunizations, physical examinations,
health education and developmental screenings for newborns and children
through age 5. Contact the Community Visiting Nurse Association at
(908) 725-9355 to schedule an appointment.
