Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as directed by the Governor’s Executive Order, the 2020 Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, July 7.

In addition, Executive Order 144 provides that ballots will be mailed to all registered Democratic and Republican voters and vote-by-mail ballot applications will be mailed to unaffiliated and inactive voters.

All vote-by-mail ballots and vote-by-mail ballot applications will come with pre-paid postage. Vote-by-mail applications must be returned to the County Clerk's Office by June 30 for timely receipt of the ballot.

Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked by 8:00 PM on July 7, or can placed in one of the 5 designated drop boxes within the County (see Election Information in the Document Center for locations), or delivered to the Somerset County Board of Election by 8:00 PM on July 7.  No Ballots will be accepted at the polling locations.

A limited number of polling locations will be open from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM for voters to cast a provisional ballot only or to utilize an ADA compliant voice voting device for voters who need additional support.  There will not be an option to vote on a regular voting machine.

Two polling locations will be open in Branchburg on July 7, at the Municipal Building and the Municipal Annex for voters who need assistance or those who need to vote by provisional ballot. Voters in Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 & 13 will be assigned to the DPW Annex Building, 34 Kenbury Road.  Voters in Districts 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 14  will be assigned to  the Municipal Building, 1077 Route 202 North.

The intent is to have the majority of votes cast by mail.
