The Branchburg Library is a member of the Somerset County Library System. It is totally staffed by volunteers. Somerset County provides the books and some services while Branchburg Township provides the building and utilities. Residents of Branchburg or any person living or employed in a town participating in the Somerset County Library System is eligible for membership in the Branchburg Library.

We lease the majority of the new fiction books so that we are able to offer many of the New York Times Best Seller books in our small space and have little or no waiting.

We have a varied collection of children’s books in a family friendly area with puzzles and coloring sheets.
Our children’s area offers all stages of reading from picture books to easy readers, chapter books and young adult books. Story Time and Craft sessions are scheduled for young children on most Wednesdays throughout the year.
A Summer Reading Program is available for all ages.

Members may borrow books for a two week period and books may be renewed in person or by telephone. Computer access for internet use is available with black/white printing available at $0.10/page.  A copy machine is available for public use at a $0.10/page fee.  A book drop slot is located to the left of the front door.

As a member of the Somerset County Library System, you have access to all of the SCLS libraries.  You can obtain books, audio books, ebooks, videos, CDs and other items directly from other locations in the system or request them through the Branchburg Library. More information about the SCLS, its locations and services can be found at

The Branchburg Library’s all-volunteer staff gives the library its small-town feel of friendliness and courtesy.  We welcome new volunteers.  Please consider volunteering a few hours a month.

Driving Directions
From the Branchburg Municipal Complex, take Route 202 South turn left on Chubb Way, which becomes South Branch Road.   Continue on South Branch Road until the road ends at a stop sign. Turn left onto Pleasant Run Road and then make the first right.  Immediately after going under railroad trestle, turn left onto Olive Street.  The library is on the right in about the middle of the block.
